National Apprenticeship Week Day 2
Date: 09 February 2021
It’s the second day of National Apprenticeship Week, and we've enjoyed hearing more about Apprenticeships, with the help of our employers and Apprentices!
We kicked off with a virtual visit from Mott MacDonald, as Head of Apprenticeships Sophie Wilmott gave an interesting overview of their wide range of Appretniceships and the experience you can gain from them. She also gave us examples of how their Civil Engineering Apprentices have been getting hands on experience in major projects such as redesigning Waterloo station and the Northern Line extension! Next up, we were joined by Adaku Murambiwa, Nursery Manager at Co-op Childcare, who spoke to our Childcare Level 2 & 3 students about the key skills needed for a rewarding career in childcare, such as empathy, leadership and the ability to multi-task! Finally, our Applied Science students heard from Darryl Horn, HR Manager at Centronic, who spoke about Centronic's Apprenticeship scheme and answered our students' questions!
Q: How have you felt supported on your Apprenticeship?
“I have had a lot of support with challenging aspects of the course” Emily, Hairdressing Apprentice
"One of my favourite things about starting at JRC has been the people being so welcoming." Bradley, Business Admin Apprentice
"The tutor encourages me to do well and if I need any help I know that I can contact her” Jade, Childcare Apprentice
We know how important it is to feel supported as your embark on a new course or career! Our staff are always on hand to guide you through the Apprenticeship, whether that’s questions on assignments, exams or something else!
