JRC Celebrates Colleges Week
Date: 20 October 2020
Colleges Week 2020
We're so excited to be celebrating Colleges Week, with the Association Colleges, and showcase everything that has taken place at JRC over this past academic year!
Each day, we'll be highlighting how JRC is helping to support different members of the community, and we'd love to hear from you! Whether you're a JRC student, ex-student, staff, or just a member of the local community, share how JRC has supported and helped you - make sure you tag us online and use #CollegesWeek and #LoveOurColleges.
JRC is at the centre of…the economic rebuild
This year we launched our brand new Construction & Engineering courses, offering new opportunities to the Croydon community!
For 20/21 we welcomed in our new cohort of Technology students, including Engineering Levels 2-3 and new Construction and Plumbing courses, from Level 1-3. From 21/22, we’ll be broadening our offer to include Brickwork, Carpentry, and Painting & Decorating.
With these new courses, JRC students will be helping to rebuild the future by developing their practical skills and participating in live real-world projects!
And that’s not all… we’ve just launched NEW Apprenticeships in Construction Level 3! This is a great way to learn on the job, and contribute to the future of the industry!
JRC is at the centre of…growing and supporting individual sectors
We’re proud to have a student community that is diverse, passionate and committed to making a difference in their industries! We work in a range of sectors, providing industry-led education, meaning our students are ready to head straight into careers and make a change.
This year, we welcome in students for brand new courses at JRC! For the first time, we’ve got students learning about Aviation, Construction, Engineering and Public Services, and we can’t wait to discover their #JRCStories

JRC is at the centre of... innovation and designing the future
Undoubtedly, this year has shown how communities can flourish online. The future is digital and we've been supporting our students by sourcing new innovative ways of teaching and maintaining our JRC community.
We've hosted our first successful Job Fair, where students have been able to engage and interact with companies online, and broaden their aspirations. Our second Virtual Open Event also takes place this week, following a great online event in June - we're so excited to be able to open up the virtual doors of JRC, so you can explore our College from the comfort of your own home! There will be online presentations, bookable 1:1 chats and virtual tours, so pre-register now to be the first to receive updates.
JRC is at the centre of…supporting people and communities
How has JRC worked with communities this year?
Jan: Intergenerational Care Event // Older members of the community were invited to the College salon for a pampering session with our Hair & Beauty students
Feb: The Anne Frank Trust Project // Our students painted memorial messages on pebbles, which were then placed in symbolic locations in Holland, in memory of Anne Frank and her family
May: Mental Health Awareness Week // We encouraged students and staff to share photos of how to #BeKindToYou
May: Young Voices at JRC // Our ESOL students have been working with arts organisation Kazzum to develop their confidence and interpersonal skills through art-based activities
June: Virtual Job Fair // We invited employers to inspire our students over Microsoft Teams! We hosted our first ever Virtual Job Fair
June & Oct: Virtual Open Event // We launched our new Virtual Open Events, with virtual tours, 1:1 chats and live presentations!
Sept: Part-time Courses Launch // We launched our new Part-time courses for 20/21! Offering new opportunities for training and development in a range of sectors.
JRC is at the centre of…the Covid response
We’re training up the next generation of frontline workers, with our courses for the care sector. We offer Full-time courses in Health & Social Care and Childcare as well as Part-time Distance Learning Courses!
