Construction Level 1

Construction Level 1 - Isabel

Former School(s): Meridian High School

Isabel joined JRC on the first-ever Construction course, after hearing good things from a friend who had attended JRC. Isabel knew she wanted to study Construction as she's had a passion for the sector since a young age, helping her family members with projects.

"During lockdown, my uncle hired me to become his labourer to do an extension on a house. When I left school, I wanted to become a plumber - that is why I decided to do Construction in College. I want to learn different trades, which will help me achieve many different things, so I can get my diploma in City and Guilds Level 1 in Construction Skills."

She's finding the teaching and support great and finds that the tutor always explains the projects clearly and makes sure that all students have their PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Isabel commented that: "The lessons are always well-planned in and out of the workshop and he makes sure that there is always work to be doing."

Isabel is set on becoming a plumber and is also considering an Apprenticeship after her course.

"The course makes me feel motivated, safe and confident."
