Hair & Media Make Up Level 3 - Hillary
Former School(s): Oasis Shirley Park
Having had a keen interest in make-Up, art and hair as a child, Hillary decided to join JRC on a Hair & Make-Up Level 3 course. She liked the set-up of the department, and since joining the course has found the support fantastic.
“You get a lot of support from teachers, they support your career path if you don’t know what to do after College too.”
Special effects is one of Hillary’s favourite elements, as well as the workshops and competitions that are run in and outside of the classroom. She took part in the AHT competition which she thought was really fun, as she met lots of students from all areas, showcasing the different work completed by different Colleges.
Speaking about her fellow students, Hillary admitted she was nervous at first to meet everyone, but quickly realised “there are a lot of nice people. You are in the same class for two years and you all become close friends and help each other.”
Work experience placements have also helped Hillary with her studies.
“I worked in a salon as part of a family business where I was able to wash client’s hair and clean the salon too. I also worked in a charity shop which improved my communication skills”
Hillary is thrilled to be progressing onto the University of Bolton and will be studying Special Make-Up Effects for Film & TV. She would love to work in film, so she hopes that this will enable her to continue on a positive career path.
