Photography Level 3 - Vinnie
Former School(s): Meridian High School
Photography has been a huge interest of Vinnie’s ever since he was very young. John Ruskin College had a Level 3 course in the subject, so he came to have a look. When he came to visit, Vinnie found the Photography Studio to have “high quality equipment for students” and decided to join JRC.
He thought it would be “a good place to develop my skills” due to the facilities like the computers, cameras, dark room and studio spaces and he knew people who had recommended the College too. Vinnie remarked how the course has pushed him to “work in new ways” and he’s enjoyed “making artwork with mixed media, using Adobe software with Photoshop and InDesign to make my portfolio”.
Vinnie has found the teaching staff approachable, “we can ask our tutor or technician for advice at any time” and feels that he is constantly encouraged to experiment with different ideas and gets feedback on how to improve his work too.
University is now on the cards for Vinnie, as he has been accepted onto a Photography BA at Birmingham City University. Speaking about his time at JRC, he commented that “2 years went fast and I’ve learnt a lot of new skills. The course has helped me follow the career path I wanted, to become a professional photographer. I’ve met good friends here and I have enjoyed my time studying with John Ruskin College”.
