Palace for Life

Date: 16 September 2020

On Thursday 16 September, we were pleased to have one of our previous students back delivering a very important message! George Henry was a student with us a few years ago and is now working at the Palace for Life Foundation, a wonderful organisation helping young Londoners grow to make safe and intelligent choices in everything they do.

George delivered a presentation on the Young Londoners Fund (Croydon Communities Partnership against Trauma) to our teaching and support staff on how Palace for Life has helped and continues to help young people across the region. He explained how Palace for Life’s aim is to encourage young people to engage with their passions and channel these into something proactive and positive. There are many projects within their intervention work, aiming to tackle risk factors which contribute to dangerous life choices. George explained that whilst they relate closely to Crystal Palace FC, it’s not just football that children can get involved with to lead into a bright future and keep them out of crime and into education. The charity also looks at getting young adults experience with music production, boxing and really anything that will help steer them onto the right path. All of this wonderful work creates safer communities, positive futures and healthy lives for everyone involved.

Thank you so much to George for coming in to speak to us, it was brilliant to see how we can help young people with the assistance of Palace for Life. Of course, it was also great for us to see what George has been up to since he left JRC too – upon visiting he even said to us “even walking down the corridor just now, I thought, how it was good to be back” and continued to talk to us about building the future of the next young adults.
