HE Provision Proudly Titled Orbital South Colleges University Centre
Date: 26 August 2022
We at Orbital South Colleges comprising John Ruskin College, East Surrey College and Reigate School of Art, are proud to announce that the Department for Education (DfE) has approved the title of ‘Orbital South Colleges University Centre’ for our growing Higher Education provision.
In 2019, The Orbital South Colleges Group was formed following the merger of John Ruskin College in Selsdon, Croydon with East Surrey College in Redhill, building on our strengths to create a high-quality and sustainable learning community.
In 2022, we are delighted to title our Higher Education provision as Orbital South Colleges University Centre as part of our established College Group.
The Orbital South Colleges University Centre, based at East Surrey College in Redhill, offers a diverse range of higher level courses and qualifications at Level 4 and above that can be studied Full-time or Part-time. This includes Foundation and Full Degrees accredited by the prestigious University of Chichester, Higher National Certificates, Higher National Diplomas (HNCs and HNDs), Higher and Degree Apprenticeships and Professional qualifications. These courses are designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to develop a career pathway. For many, completing a Higher Education qualification at Orbital South Colleges University Centre opens the door to a whole new career allowing students a chance to study a subject they are interested in and boost their career prospects and earning potential.
Richard Pearce, Director of Higher Education at Orbital South Colleges University Centre commented: “Becoming recognised as a University Centre is an important milestone for our university-level provision, which continues to grow and develop year-on-year. It means Higher Education at the College Group can have a clearer identity of its own and sends a positive message to all our stakeholders that we offer degrees and other higher level courses locally at the College.”
We offer a wide range of Higher Education courses in Art, Design & Media, Business, Accounting & IT, Construction, Engineering, Healthcare & Counselling, Sport & Public Services, Teaching & Early Years, Higher & Degree Apprenticeships.
BA (Hons) Top-up student, Noelle, progressed from HND Photography at the newly titled Orbital South Colleges University Centre and is a Student Rep for the National Union of Journalists.
“Open discussion has always been encouraged on my course. The support network within the College from a wellbeing point of view is also exemplary,” Noelle told us. She has been “able to achieve the grades I deserve and reach my full potential both academically and professionally.” Noelle has been commissioned to photograph objects to illustrate two books, and has also been employed as a Stills Photographer for a BBC Two Horizon’s documentary. Her work has also featured in The Guardian, the Radio Times, the Financial Times, GQ magazine and several other leading publications
