We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As the figurehead of our nation for 75 years and a truly inspirational role model, she will be greatly missed.

There will be several protocols and arrangements taking place nationally in the next few days.

Following guidance from the Department for Education (DfE), we would like to advise that the College will remain open during the national period of mourning.

This may change once the details of the funeral are confirmed by the Royal Household, so we recommend students, parents, carers and staff to visit the College website for the latest updates.

Her Majesty's passing will affect us all in different ways and, as always, we will provide support to our students and staff.

We also want to remind students of our Wellbeing Hub, a resource that we have updated, that you may find helpful during this time.

If you are in need of support, please speak with our Safeguarding Team whose details can be found here.

Sincerely,
John Ruskin College

John Ruskin College, along with the whole nation, is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty the Queen. As we start the national period of mourning, we will remember her as a truly remarkable and inspirational lady who led our country with such grace for over 70 years.

In November 2011, we were fortunate to welcome The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh at our East Surrey College campus in Redhill, where she officially opened the new campus.

Jayne Dickinson, Chief Executive, Orbital South Colleges, said:

“We are truly sorry to hear of The Queen’s passing. Her visit to East Surrey College really was an outstanding occasion and so memorable for all of us.

The Queen’s enthusiasm, warmth and interest will always be fondly remembered by me, our students and staff.”

We offer our sincere condolences to the members of the Royal Family at this time.

There is a national online book of condolence on the Royal Family website for anyone wishing to leave a tribute.

Address: John Ruskin College, Selsdon Park Road, South Croydon, CR2 8JJ
