OSC sweep the board at Surrey’s Got Talent

Date: 13 March 2025

On Wednesday 12 March OSC hosted SurreyFE’s annual Hair, Beauty and Make-up competition, Surrey’s Got Talent.

The competition saw NESCOT, Brooklands Technical College, Activate Learning (Guildford College) and Orbital South Colleges reunite at East Surrey College, for a competitive day of events that tested students in 8 separate categories covering a wide variety of skillsets and ability.

OSC students did us proud with a resounding success across the categories, which were independently judged by our industry panel. A special congratulations to the students below who came first in their categories and to all those who competed with exceptional effort.

Tori Ratcliffe (Left) from East Surrey College finished in 1st place in Level 3 Hair and Media Makeup, with her makeup look of Pinhead from the Hellraiser franchise. Reanie Jones (Right) from John Ruskin College came first in the Beauty and Body Massage contest, completing a back massage on a live model. Congratulations to Lola Davis, from John Ruskin College who also won for her non-gel manicure application.

Kashieyah Deabreu-Johnson (Left), from John Ruskin College came first in the Commercial Blow Dry and Finish on a Mannequin. Semiyah Gordon, from John Ruskin won the Evening Hair, 20th Century Plaits and Twists completed seen above with her model.

The success of Orbital South Colleges at Surreys Got Talent is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both our students and tutors throughout the year. Alex Chapman from Wella echoed this sentiment, saying ‘It's been so refreshing to see how seriously the group take their hair and beauty - to see the different levels of expertise and how engaged the lecturers and the judges have been. It's been amazing, the talent here is phenomenal.’

Natalie Watkins, Programme Manager at OSC said ‘I was privileged to organise and host the annual SurreyFE Competition for Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Makeup at East Surrey College. It was a fun filled event showcasing the hard work and efforts of our students across the Surrey group including students from Orbital South Colleges, NESCOT, Brooklands and Activate’

The Surrey’s Got Talent competition is a great reminder of the strength of our partnership and how the collaborative work we do helps to set a standard for teaching across the group. Well done to our  students who showcased their amazing talent across all the categories and a massive you to Natalie Watkins and the Hair, Beauty and Makeup team for organising this year's showcase.
