Romell originally joined JRC on the KS4 programme, four years ago. He has been on an incredible journey with us.

Romell is a dedicated sportsman and a very promising athlete, who competes outside College at elite level in Athletics, namely the 100m sprint in which his best time is 10.21 seconds. In 2017 he was the fastest U17 in the world at 100m.

In addition to achieving highly on his  Sport Level 3 course, Romell has been a sports coach, facilitating enrichment and coaching sessions weekly. His teachers have commented, “he always goes above and beyond to help his fellow students.”

As a result of his amazing contribution and achievement, Romell was awarded Best Learner for Sport for 2019, as well as overall Best Learner for the College. He also received an Outstanding Contribution Award at the Awards Event.

Romell is set to progress to the University of East London, where he has secured a scholarship to continue competing in Athletics and to study Sports & Exercise Science.
