Becoming a Brilliant College

Foreword by the chair of corporation

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you our Three Year Development Plan titled ‘Becoming a Brilliant College’. John Ruskin College has already demonstrated that it can, as a community based college, positively address the spectrum of challenges and pressures during the current social and economic climate, essentially by diversifying its provision and constantly seeking to improve the quality of everything it does.

‘Becoming a Brilliant College’ is designed to present a clear road map enabling the College to reach even higher standards and become ‘Brilliant’ in the eyes of each and every learner.

This plan has been produced by the College’s Senior Leadership Team under the direction of the Corporation, who have consulted a broad range of stakeholders to ensure that we remain fully responsive to the needs of the community, local businesses and in particular our learners who live local to the College.

Whilst reading the plan you will realise that the Senior Leadership Team together with the Corporation are continuing to place a strong emphasis on the skills sought by potential employers for success in the world of work. In addition our development of international opportunities is designed to provide global experiences for our learners. We consider these two areas as essential to ensure that every learner receives a brilliant experience whilst attending John Ruskin College.

I commend to you our latest Three Year Development Plan ‘Becoming a Brilliant College’. It is my wish that together with the Staff, Senior Leadership Team and the Corporation, you embrace our commitments as a high quality local College and provider. I would also hope that you can engage with our dedication to constantly improve opportunities and make preparations for the inevitable life changes and expectations all our learners will experience now and in the future.

Alec Stow MA
