Principal and Chief Executive
John Ruskin College is a small, supportive, highly successful, sixth form college situated in South Croydon surrounded by a beautiful green environment. It was graded outstanding by Ofsted in October 2013. Key statements in the report by Ofsted include that ’Teaching, Learning and Assessment are outstanding,’ ‘Support and Guidance are excellent,’ ‘The development of learners’ knowledge and skills is outstanding’ and ‘progression rates to higher levels of learning are high’ The College has specialised in vocational education for several years and has now increased its curriculum offer to include A level pathways, Apprenticeships, Traineeships and Direct entry for 14-16 year olds.

We can also boast high quality industry facilities with the most recent being our state of the art Hair & Beauty Salons and Spa Training facilities, Digital Media Suite, a Photographic and Broadcasting studio as well as a Hospital style facility and simulated nursery. The College also has a competition standard Sports Hall and Fitness gym and first class Science labs. Other new developments include a state of the art Learning zone with discreet areas for one to one support and a one stop Student Services Lounge, which encompasses a common room for networking and recreation as well as a Careers advice centre, making it a truly inclusive experience.
You can choose from an exciting range of vocational courses:
Business Management, Creative Industries which incorporates Art and Design, Graphic Design, Media, Film and TV and Photography; Hair & Beauty and Spa Therapies, Health, Care and Early Years, Science and Sports and Public services, as well as ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages) and Foundation Learning. Our unique A level pathways, provide an exhilarating new way to study A levels. The A level subjects are grouped together into career pathways and cover the following areas, Medical Sciences, Technology & Engineering, Business, Health Sciences, Media, Social Science and Teaching & Education. The College is not just about achieving qualifications. We offer an extensive list of additional activities including The Duke of Edinburgh Award, sports and various societies as well as the opportunity to become an active member of the Student Partnership Council or train as an Ambassador for the College. Social events, theatre visits, trips and cultural diversity days feature annually in the College calendar. At John Ruskin College we pride ourselves on our professional and friendly approach. - Bus Routes 64,130, 359, 314, 353, 466, T31, T32 and T33 stop near the College. Alight at Selsdon Park Road (359 and 64), Gravel Hill (130, 466), Featherbed Lane (359, T31, T32) or Addington Village Interchange (T3, 314, 353).
- Tram Line 3 runs from central Croydon via Gravel Hill to New Addington. Alight at Gravel Hill.
