Over 400 guests, consisting of family, friends, staff, governors, and employers, attended the prestigious end of year Awards Event at the College on Tuesday 20th June. The students were dressed in graduation gowns, providing a sense of grandeur to the occasion.
The Awards Ceremony is held annually to celebrate the outstanding achievements and efforts of the students, including both curriculum awards as well as awards for outstanding contributions both internally and externally. Two additional awards were given; for Employer of the Year which went to Forman Law Solicitors in Purley for their invaluable work with our Apprenticeship team and Student of the Year, Ergest Zejnelaj for his exceptional contribution to the College community.
During the ceremony there were also references to the many accolades the College has won during the academic year, the most recent ones being Investor in Careers for the advice and guidance we give to our students and the College being placed for the second time among the top 100 organisations at the National Centre for Diversity Grand Awards in March 2017. Among the accolades there were also several sporting successes which were mentioned.
The presentation of the Awards was interspersed with an amazing variety of exceptional performances given by our students, from a variety of genre, including dance, singing, poetry and speeches.
To conclude the evening our Guest of Honour, Tony Newman, Leader of Croydon Council addressed the audience with an inspirational speech. This was followed by professional photographs and a celebration buffet.
The Principal and Chief Executive of the College, Mohammed Ramzan said, “ I feel very proud of the achievements and contributions of the students and staff and the accolades the College has achieved this academic year. I would also like to thank Tony Newman for giving up his time from his busy schedule to attend our Awards event and special thanks also go to the employers and training partners that we work with closely.”
