It was great to see our students collecting their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award for the past academic year. It demonstrated their hard work, resilience and commitment.
Principal Kevin Standish said, “I’m very proud of our students for achieving this prestigious award which will certainly stand them in good stead for the future”
John Ruskin College is the only post 16 centre in the borough offering the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
The D of E charity works with organisations across the UK to help young people gain essential skills, experience, confidence and resilience to successfully navigate life. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a recognised mark of achievement, respected by employers. For the Bronze Award it involves four sections; helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition. (source: www.dofe.org)
