We want you to succeed at college and we will do our very best to help you achieve your goals. We treat you as an individual, assess your needs and find out the best way for you to learn. If you need additional support you will find many people to help you.
Our support for students includes:
- Highly qualified and experienced class teachers - who will monitor your progress and give you guidance throughout your course.
- Personal tutor - who will provide a tutorial programme including individual and group activities to help you settle into college life, set targets, plan action and review your progress.
- Learning support team - including learning support assistants who can help in class with note taking, specialist learning support tutors to provide individual and group support for dyslexia and for speakers of other languages. We can also arrange for dyslexia assessments and examination concessions.
- Learning Centre Team - who are available to give individual and workshop sessions to improve literacy, numeracy, study and IT skills.
- Support with disabilities - including mobility, welfare, visual and hearing impairments. The college is accessible to students in wheelchairs. There are lifts, ramping, handrails and adapted toilet facilities.
- Highly trained, experienced counsellors and personal advisers - who can support you with any personal difficulties or issues that might be affecting your study.
- Help with planning your future - besides your tutors there are specialist staff in our Student Services Centre who can advise on options and pathways to help you achieve your goals and plan for the future.
- Financial help - staff in the Student Services Centre will be happy to advise you.
- Support with childcare - the Cotelands Centre is situated on the college site and provides a nursery which offers nursery accommodation for the children of staff and students and work experience opportunities for students in the Health, Care and Early Years Academy.
