On Wednesday 8th February John Ruskin College played host to 27 International Students and their teachers from Retamar School in Madrid. The main purpose of their visit was to research other vocational training systems in Europe as the students involved were all following vocational programmes. As specialists in the field of vocational education the College was delighted to assist and share its expertise with these visitors.
The group was given a tour of the College’s Industry style facilities and had the opportunity to speak to several John Ruskin College students about the courses they are following. The visit concluded with activities in the College’s new Hair, Beauty and Spa salon where the Spanish students were treated to Head Massages and Haircuts.!!! Both students and staff from Retamar School would like to develop links with the College in the future.
Tim Eyton-Jones, the Principal of John Ruskin College said: `We are keen to build relationships with International organisations as it will provide exciting links and opportunities for our students and staff. We have also recently employed a Higher Education and International Development Director which demonstrates our commitment to this type of work.
