25th June 2009
Priscilla Agoe- Ogwang, a student at John Ruskin College had her innovative design featured in this years “Enterprising Fashion and Wear, Not Waste catwalk show”. The show is a flagship show representing outrageous and creative designs.
Priscilla’s name may not yet be popular amongst fashionista's of Croydon; however this name is definitely known amongst John Ruskin College students’ and teachers. Priscilla’s originality and hard work has not gone unnoticed, she is one of the college’s exceptional learners, and won a best learner’s award in May this year. Who better to represent John Ruskin College at the fashion show organised by Croydon's Business Improvement District?
In less than a week the featured design made out of copies of the Financial Times had to be completed in time for the show. On the day, Priscilla’s creation went down a treat with the audience. They gave her voluptuous dress worn by her model (Roxanne) a rapturous round of applause and it was unquestionably amongst one of the best creations in the recyclable category to grace the catwalk.
Priscilla hopes to study fashion further at the London College of Fashion next year. Until then she will continue to nurture her talents at John Ruskin College and can proudly remember her delicately folded origami dress that undeniably gave the Financial Times a fashionable twist.
