There is great jubilation at John Ruskin College this week as staff and students celebrate their best ever achievement. The pass rate for Advanced level subjects is 98% with over half of the students achieving high grades. Hidden within these figures is an even greater success story. The achievement on BTEC National Diploma, which is the equivalent of three A levels, is 100%. This is particularly pleasing as from this September the college will specialise in vocational courses, becoming the only college in the area to focus on the highly respected BTEC qualifications. Last year the college was judged outstanding for the number of students that progressed onto university. These results show that this remarkable record is set to continue. Almost 70% of BTEC students achieved high grades with 50 achieving the top award of triple distinction.
College Principal, Jennifer Sims, said ‘I am delighted at these results. They demonstrate the absolute commitment of all our staff to do whatever is required to support our students so that they can achieve their full potential.’
