Xchanging links with business
First year Career academy students get "behind-the-scenes" access to one of UK’s top employers
11th December 2009
Students on the BTEC National Business course got the chance to boost their employability skills by gaining exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ access to one of Britain’s most influential organisations, Xchanging.
In the morning they got the chance to boost their employability skills through a workplace tour, group activity and Q&A session, getting the unique opportunity to grill bosses about what life is like at the top.
The inspiring visit was part of a day-long event, ‘A Capital Experience’, organised by aspiration-raising business-education programme Career Academies UK, involving a total of 1,200 students from across the UK and over 50 top London-based employers.
In the afternoon, at the National Theatre, they participated in a range of business-related activities, led by motivational speaker Dave McQueen. During the inspirational session, serial entrepreneur Shaa Wasmund and Accenture Partner Tim Robinson also shared their own career journeys with the audience. Status – the current UK Street Dance Champions for 2009 also made a guest appearance.
