Army Challenge Day
21st June 07
Supported by the ESF (European Social Fund Team) at John Ruskin College
21st June 2007
In order to support students to bridge the gaps in progression from one academic level to the next, on Health, Social Care, Early Years and Psychology programmes, the ESF team, based at the College, have organised the army to work with students to enable them to develop skills in leadership, team building, problem solving and motivation.
This was a one day event whereby 20 soldiers, who have served in recent conflicts, worked with in excess of 100 students on a number of structured indoor and outdoor activities.
A very successful pilot was run in March of this year and this has resulted in the army agreeing to support the students on a much larger scale.
NB. The ESF project is part funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund and supported by Connexions South London.
