On Friday 9th March, A Level Media students from John Ruskin College were treated to a visit from two Saatchi and Saatchi employees: Mike Middleton, Art Director and Paul Everson, Account Director.

As part of their Advertising and Broadcast and Film Fiction unit, students had to put together an advertising campaign with a £1 million budget for either a new product they had devised, or an existing product.

Campaign ideas ranged from advertising the latest technology like the PSP, iPod games and a remix CD, to fashion such as Nike Total 90 trainers and hoody jackets, luxury goods like perfume and BMW car to lifestyle choices like juice drinks and sexual health awareness.

Having presented their ideas, Paul and Mike gave the students some valuable feedback and chose the teams that had best met the brief by covering both the creative side of the project and the financial aspects. Winning teams were the PSP and iPod games. Mike said "I didn't know what to expect. It’s been brilliant seeing how much enthusiasm you have". Winning students won a cash prize. Curriculum Team Manager, Brendan Horstead said, 'It’s been really inspiring and great to have your contributions".
