John Ruskin College Football Academy goes from strength to strength
1st November 2007
Three students at John Ruskin College Football Academy, Harrison Carnegie, Tomiwa Oni and Mathew Wey, have been signed by Barnet F.C, This is an excellent opportunity for these students to play football at a good level. Matthew is playing regularly for Barnet and the others are playing for them on weekend games and the academy at other times. All three recently played for Barnet against Queens Park Rangers.
In addition the academy team playing as Croydon Athletic Youth are doing very well in their league and have won the three qualifying rounds in the FA youth cup to reach the First Round Proper. On Wednesday 7th November the team travel to Southend (Roots Hall) for a 7.30 kick-off against Southend United where they will 'pit their skills' against a football league team. We wish them well for this game.
The Wednesday afternoon team playing in the SESSA league have won all three games so far and are top of the league.
Well done to all the boys in the academy. All students in the academy are following an OCN level 2 course or a BTEC National Certificate in Sports Development, Fitness & Coaching (level 3).
If you would like to be part of the academy from September 2008 and would like further details log onto www.footballtrials.com or www.croydonathletic.co.uk and follow the academy link.
