John Ruskin College Results
16th August 2006
Once again staff and students at John Ruskin College are celebrating wonderful A level and vocational A level results. As one of the largest providers of A level and vocational A levels for 16-19 year olds in South London, the college has over 900 entries and takes students from a wide ability range. This year’s results with an overall pass rate of 93% mean that students will be able to take up their university places and move on to the next stage of their careers.
The results include 17 subjects with a 100% pass rate ranging from English Language and Literature and French, to Physics and vocational Science (the college has a reputation as one of the best providers in the country for vocational Science and was rated as one of the top 25% of sixth form colleges nationally in 2005).
In recent years, the college has developed its vocational A level courses in response to demand from students who increasingly want to study subjects that relate to the career of their choice. The majority of these courses have 100% pass rate. The course with the largest number of students - Business Studies - entered 54 candidates for the double A level award and 53 of them achieved a pass with many achieving very high grades.
The principal Jennifer Sims said 'We are delighted with our results which mean that once again most of our students will be progressing to university. In our recent inspection, the OFSTED inspectors commented on how good the college is at getting students to progress to higher education. With the further development of our vocational courses, including the BTEC in Sports Studies which will be based in our new Sports and Science Centre, we have every expectation of continuing this trend.
