Level 1 Vocational Courses

Our Level 1 Vocational courses help you develop the skills needed to progress to a Level 2 Vocational qualification, Traineeship or Apprenticeship. There are a variety of engaging and fun career pathways for you to choose from:

  • NEW Level 1 BTEC Introductory Certificate in Vocational Studies

    This course is designed to enable students to learn and develop independent study skills, time management, employability skills and vocational knowledge, and will provide you with the confidence to effectively progress in education and life. As well as developing transferrable skills, the Certificate in Vocational Studies will also introduce you to some of the key curriculum areas within the College, including: Business, Sport, Science and Digital Media and will enable you to decide on the career path best suited to you.

  • Beauty Therapy

    This course is suitable for those of you who wish to develop the basic skills required in beauty therapy. The course will involve both practical and theory classes. During the practical lessons, you will work in a realistic salon environment and will be expected to carry out basic beauty therapy services on clients, once you have reached a certain level of ability. Some examples of the units that will be covered are: health and safety, basic manicure and pedicure, make-up, nail art and salon reception. This course will prepare you for progression to Level 2 Beauty Therapy. Possible opportunities for employment could include a Salon Junior within a Beauty Salon or Spa.

  • Hairdressing

    This course is suitable for those of you who wish to develop the basic skills needed in hairdressing. The course will involve both practical and theory classes. During the practical lessons, you will work in a realistic salon environment and will be expected to carry out hairdressing services on clients, once you have reached a certain level of ability. Some examples of the units that will be covered are: health and safety, styling hair, shampooing hair, colouring hair, and salon reception. This course will prepare you for progression to Level 2 Hairdressing. Employment opportunities could also include employment as a Salon Junior within a Hair or Beauty Salon.

Your Study Programme will Involve:

Maths and English English lessons will enhance your written and spoken communication skills and our Maths tutors will help you to improve your everyday Maths skills in a fun and practical way. To enhance your employment prospects you will also work towards achieving a grade 4 GCSE in both subjects.

Work Experience – we will also assist you In finding a work placement which is relevant to your course.

Tutorial – You will have a personal tutor who will play a key role in supporting your personal, professional and academic development.
