John Ruskin College has gained a very strong reputation over the years as a provider of high quality employment based training.

We work with both local SMEs as well as larger organisations in the public and private sector. The areas in which we specialise are: Business and Management, Health and Social Care, Children’s Care Learning and Development, Cleaning and Customer Service. All of our courses are vocational and as well as offering the opportunity to develop your teams, the training your staff will receive at their workplace not only leads to a better understanding of their work role but, our surveys show, that employers find that such training brings valuable benefits to their organisation.
The work of the Business Development team is constantly changing and we have a commitment to regularly review our portfolio and investigate new ways of working and delivering training courses in order to ensure that the needs of our customers are met.
We have short courses, which last for up to 12 weeks as well as longer NVQ courses which can take between three months and one year. We are also affiliated with other training providers to offer courses for people who want to become Health and Fitness professionals (Premier Training) or gain qualifications in the hospitality sector (Welcome Skills). In partnership with Premier Training we have been delivering courses for the Sport, Recreation and Leisure sector including Fitness Instructing, Personal Training, and Sports Massage Therapy. These have proved to be exceptionally popular with over 350 candidates completing in excess of 600 courses. This list of courses will be increased towards the end of 2008. Watch this space.

We have been working with Welcome Skills for the past year delivering NVQs in Food and Drink Service and in Professional Cookery. Welcome Skills provides practical assistance and pastoral care to trainees whilst offering advice and solutions to employers who receive the benefit of highly motivated and hard working individuals who are valued and determined to succeed.
