Applied Science

The exciting range of Applied Science courses at John Ruskin College will help you develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of the different career routes available to you and to help you on your path to be the future of Science in the UK.

You will develop analytical, evaluative, practical and technical skills which will enable you to work within a wide range of scientific industries or progress to Level 3 courses or Higher Education (degree course or foundation course).


Your studies will include:

Applied Science – Level 2 Diploma

1 Year 
Entry Requirements: 5 GCSE grade 9-3 (A*-D) including English, Maths and Science; or BTEC Level 1 Diploma Merit/Distinction and GCSE grade 9-3 (A*-D) in English, Maths and Science
Assessment: Coursework, practical observations and written exams in two units

WHY STUDY THIS COURSE?
This course is designed to develop your knowledge and application of science to the world around us, including the fields of health and medicine and applications of chemistry, physics and biology. You will have the opportunity to improve your practical laboratory skills as well as report writing and communication skills.

Assessment: Coursework, practical observations, exams and supervised set tasks
