ESOL
English for Speakers of Other Languages

ESOL at John Ruskin College offers you a dynamic and professional approach to learning: speaking and listening, reading and writing. Come and improve your English in a supportive and engaging environment, using the latest technology. Our highly qualified teachers will enable you to achieve a qualification in ESOL Skills for Life at an appropriate level and you will have the opportunity to progress to our vocational courses in the future.

Your ESOL course will be 13.5 hours a week and will include Functional Maths and ICT. You will develop the confidence to communicate effectively in your local community and will engage with other learners from many different backgrounds and cultures.

We offer ESOL courses from pre-entry level to entry level 3, at which stage you will be able to access ESOL with your choice of vocational area. All courses will involve a short residential visit and a museum trip.

Entry requirements: None, but you will be required to have an existing ESOL qualification at Entry 3 to enrol on our vocational courses. You will also be required to have suitable evidence of date of entry to the UK, as well as supporting visa or Home Office documents.
