What does the course involve?

  • You will be introduced to Health & Social Care and the jobs in this field.
  • You will be expected to take part in work experience in a care setting, for example, a nursery, residential care home or day centre for people with disabilities.
  • You will develop skills in communicating with others and improve your writing skills.

How is the course assessed?

This is an ideal course for you if you prefer coursework to exams. You will be assessed on the quality of your coursework and at the end of this one year course you will be awarded with an overall grade of pass/merit or distinction on the successful completion of all units.

What are the career opportunities open to me if I take this course?

After successfully completing the course you can progress on to a Level 2 qualification, e.g. BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care / Children’s Care, Learning and Development. You could also go onto a training scheme or find employment.
