What does the course involve?
- You will work in at least 4 different child care settings, e.g. day nurseries, baby units, primary schools, pre-schools.
- You will spend 800 hours (one and a half days a week) on work placements.
- If you pass this course you will become a qualified nursery officer.
How is the course assessed?
This is an ideal course for you if you prefer coursework to exams. You will be assessed on the quality of your coursework and you will be awarded overall grades of pass/merit or distinction on the successful completion of all coursework units at the end of this two year course.

What are the career opportunities open to me if I take this course?
You can progress to Higher Education which will lead to careers such as teaching, midwifery, education welfare officer.
You can enter the child care profession as a nursery officer in various settings and progress to management levels such as officer in charge.
