I entered further education some 23 years ago as a lecturer moving from industry where I was a Product Designer working for Cannon in North London. During those 23 years I have held a succession of management posts at three other Colleges, most of whom were large General Further Education Colleges with over 800 employees. At my last two Colleges I have led a total of six curriculum areas from an unsatisfactory grade to a reinspected grade good or satisfactory. At both of these Colleges I was also instrumental in leading a significant rise in overall student success rates to well above national averages. I enjoy working in London and although the regions have very different characteristics the students are always a joy to work with. John Ruskin College, its students and staff has an excellent potential to become truly outstanding for the quality of what is does as well as for student achievement and student progression to either the world of work or Higher Education. As a member of the corporation I enjoy working with governors in leading John Ruskin College to becoming a real asset for the local community.
