Alec STOW originally from Hessle, Hull in East Yorkshire went to school in York for ten years then took a long gap of 18 months before taking a first degree in Special Politics and International Relations at Hull University. He joined the Metropolitan Police Service December 1978 He successfully read a Masters Degree in Criminology at Middlesex University during 1988 graduating during 1990.
Alec researched 6 topics which included Youth and Crime, The mechanics of Urban Rioting and Post cold-war threats from changing international terrorism, organised crime, narcotics.
He joined the Metropolitan Police Service during December 1978 and was promoted November 1982. He served on Belgravia, Chelsea, Brixton and Croydon Boroughs before being medically retired in January 2009.
Alec was approached to join the John Ruskin Corporation whilst serving as a Community Sergeant at Croydon during 2004 and is currently committed as a second term co-opted Corporation Governor and sits on the Curriculum and Quality sub committee.
He lives with his partner Jill in West Sussex enjoying his garden and large allotment, passively persuing his RIB boat and light aviation interests.
Alec was appointed to the Governing Body with effect from 23rd May 2005
