Abubakar Mohamadu Mumuni Mohammed, ESOL Skills for Life (Entry 2) student received a highly acclaimed Best Learner Award, which was presented at the ‘Best Learner ceremony’ at The House of Lords on 17th May 2018.This is an annual event which celebrates the achievements of students from South London Colleges.
The curriculum departments each year at the College choose a learner who they consider especially worthy of consideration to be nominated for this award. Abubakar was nominated by the Senior Management at The College as this year’s Best Learner, for some of the following reasons:. He is a very responsible learner who takes pride in his work. Throughout the year Abubakar has been a very active participant during lessons and he has always supported his peers.
He’s always been a sensible, motivated and caring member of the group. What’s more, Abubakar is a curious learner who cares about what he is learning. For him, there’s always more to know; he’s never satisfied with how much he knows about anything. Abubakar knows that unless it’s passed on, knowledge is lost. He is a good teacher, committed to sharing with others what he’s learned. He writes about it, and talks about it. He is respectful and tolerant of new ideas and information. He’s open to taking risks, exploring, and knows that learning is more about the process than the product. He is brilliant at incorporating new knowledge into daily life, activities, and other courses. We are proud of the role model he has become and know that he will do well and has a bright future ahead of him.
