Alumni from the John Ruskin Grammar School (those associated with the former site in Shirley and the previous sites in Scarbrook Road and Tamworth Road) celebrated the 95th Anniversary of the foundation of the school as John Ruskin Boys Central. They came together on Saturday 5th September on the current John Ruskin College site where they had a celebratory meal and met with students who are studying at the College now and some who have recently left the College to go onto University and the world of work.
The Golden Alumni’ were treated to tours of the College and a presentation on John Ruskin College as it is today. This was interspersed with musical entertainment from the Alumni, Army Cadet Force film footage and presentations on The Tamworth Road days as well as other institutional history.
Mohammed Ramzan, current Principal & Chief Executive, commented , “It was wonderful to see both past and current students mixing together to share in the history of John Ruskin Grammar school and the College as it is now. We are very keen to engage with our ‘Golden Alumni’ and involve them wherever possible in the life of the College.”
